With summer comes vacation. My bf and I love traveling in August for my birthday month. Last year we went east. This year we are doing a mid-West roadtrip . Day 1 consisted of us heading from Vancouver to Revelstoke, which is about half way between Vancouver and Calgary. The drive along the Coquihalla Highway is beautiful with all the greenery and mountains.
We were this excited to do the drive to Revelstoke so we could camp and enjoy a dip in the Canyon Hotsprings… Until we were in Salmon Arm and experienced a really bad rainstorm. Hail, thunder and lightning! What’s worse than driving in the rain?? Camping in the rain! So we decided to hit up the motels in hopes of something cheap for a night. Obviously people thought the same thing. Either there were no vacancies or prices were sky high. One guy was charging $199 a night and that place looked like a dump! Like the guy in front of us in line said “f*** that I’m not paying that price for here!” Luckily we caught a break from the rain around 10 and ended up at our intended camping ground at Canyon Hot Springs Resortand was able to setup our tent in a dry area. Hopefully day 2 allows us to enjoy the hot springs here before we end up in Calgary.
Note: Canyon Hot Springs campground has campsites, RV spots, and cabins for rent. They also have direct access to the hot springs pool. The showers at the site costs $3 for 6 min but very clean and there are coin operated laundry for those who need it. No Wi-Fi though so it’s one with nature! The hot springs are not included with campsite rental but you get a 10% discount.
